Ron Mallon is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Utah. His research is in social philosophy, philosophy of cognitive psychology, and moral psychology. During his time visiting the University of Hong Kong, he was crucial in carrying out the first cross-cultural experimental investigation of philosophical theories of reference. He has authored or co-authored papers in Cognition, Ethics, Journal of Political Philosophy, Midwest Studies in Philosophy, Mind and Language, Noûs, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, Philosophy of Science, Social Neuroscience, and Social Theory and Practice. He has been the recipient of a Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, a Research Assistant Professorship at the University of Hong Kong, and a Laurence S. Rockefeller Visiting Fellowship at the Princeton's University Center for Human Values.
Shaun Nichols is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arizona, where he directs a research group on experimental philosophy. He has done extensive work in the philosophy of psychology and cognitive science, and he was one of the first to turn to experiments to illuminate persistent disputes in moral philosophy. He has published widely at the intersection of philosophy and psychology, including a book on moral judgment, Sentimental Rules, as well as several articles in experimental philosophy on free will, responsibility, and cultural diversity. In 2005 he received the Stanton Award from the Society for Philosophy and Psychology, a prize given annually to a scholar who has made significant contributions to interdisciplinary research.
